Demo by Pete Jackson

Club meeting - October 22nd 2015

Pete needs no introduction. He is well known and respected for his calm, entertaining demonstration style. As club secretary, Pete involves himself in everything to do with the club. As a turner, he has shown consistent flair in producing all forms of turned items. However, it is perhaps in the field of hollow forms where Pete has demonstrated a real eye for design, form and elegant lines. This evening, Pete took us through colouring and texturing of a wide rimmed bowl. The final appearance of the rim of the bowl was very convincingly transformed into a metallic, weathered bronze or copper finish. He also brought along some other examples of his work using this hammered, metallic effect. As usual, Pete took us through the processes with humour and a deep knowledge of his craft, entertaining and informing as he went causing a number of the audience to reach for their notebooks.
The finished demonstration piece.
