Before starting Pete showed us several different examples of candle and tealight holders (top left) making the point that they are not strictly necessary but if you want to sell your wares they are probably a good idea. To watch this click here. Peter gave us a double demonstration. First a relatively simple tea light holder in a rather attractive ovoid shape (watch video part 1, part 2 and part 3 here) and then a candlestick incorporating a captive ring (watch video part 1, part 2 or part3 (captive ring). Pete also showed us many examples of his handicraft from years past, many of which have clearly seen sterling service in his own home (other pictures). The slightly pink tinged tealight holder was produced using the technique demonstrated by Mick Hanbury last year which involved mixing minute metallic flakes in with the finishing wax so that the flakes filled the grain while polishing takes place.
